Our Story

Calvary Church has a beginning that is much different than many other church plants.  In 1995, our Founding Pastor Ron Koebbe retired from the Marine Corps after 28 years of service.  Upon his retirement, he was asked to become the administrator of Living Water Christian School. His first response was that he would take the school on for one year. Well, after that first year ended, Pastor Koebbe felt that Jacksonville was where God was calling him to stay, and he began to wait on God’s timing to launch Calvary Church.

In November 1997, our Founding Pastor Ron Koebbe started Calvary Church with a core group of people in a small storefront building off of Gum Branch Road.  During this time, CCjaxNC started its first building project.  In November 1999, the construction of the elementary school and the church sanctuary was completed.

Due to the growth of the school and the church, construction on our current sanctuary was started in January 2003.

We currently have five different buildings on campus that enable us to influence the lives of those that live within Onslow county.  We have a thriving Christian school that not only connects our students to Christ, but also challenges them to grow academically and serve with humility.

In January of 2017, Pastor Ron Koebbe retired from 21 years of ministry in Onslow county and his son, Ronnie Koebbe, became our Lead Pastor.
